A new set of class specific abilities are being added as well. These abilities stay the same no matter which subclass you choose, and are generally meant to help your teammates. Titans can plant down a shield, Warlocks can cast an area of healing and Hunters get a dodge roll similar to the one that was part of the Nightstalker subclass. The first two are activated by holding down the circle or B button and the Hunter’s roll is done by double tapping it. They are all a nice addition to each class’ set of abilities and are super tactical. They were all incredibly useful in both PvE and PvP.
This is where the Cabal are fiercest, and it doesnāt help that they have also been looking into the Vex Gate, so you will need to get past their forces to make any progress. It’s revealed that the Vex are returning through this gate to the Black Garden for an undetermined reason, so like any good Guardian, you follow them through. This is where you will arrive at a very unnerving location as the Vex seem to be worshiping a Black Heart. The final boss of the vanilla game, the Sol Progeny, is summoned to defend this heart, and upon defeating them, light is restored within the Traveller.
The other side of the loot pool is the now titled “Illuminated Engrams” (previously Bright Engrams) which drop all sorts of cosmetic goodies and sometimes an exotic ship, sparrow or Ghost. Bungie is sticking to their guns with how these engrams function ā aside from the debacle of XP gain ā a minor complaint comes against it. With so many new cosmetics, mainly shaders, why canāt these items be locked like armor or weapons? Why canāt they be deleted in mass? Having to systemically break-down shaders one by one is tedious and a waste of time. No one wants to sit around and delete 65 bland shaders, “wooo, look how much fun Iām having.”
Where does Destiny 2 armor Guide 2 go from here? Curse of Osiris, much like previous Destiny DLCs before it, is more of the same. It can barely hold a spotlight on Osiris, whoās supposed to be one of the most important Guardians and it leaves more questions than it answers. Destiny 2 might be in more of a state of flux than Destiny. It wants to appeal to everyone. Casting such a wide net means knots, holes and all sorts of other problems.
Whether youāre a grown adult or a child, who doesnāt love PokĆ©mon? The release of the Gameboy Advance began arguably the best era for handheld games, and leading the march was PokĆ©mon Ruby and Sapphire. These twelve year old games brought us the third generation of PokĆ©mon we love today, so it seemed only fit for Nintendo to remake the duo. With their new 3D engine, Nostalgia hits hard for those who grew up in the late 90s and early 00s, as Game Freak was able to recreate everything youāve come to love, while at the same time adding on top of it. While it would still be great to see new PokĆ©mon adventures, this is one of the few cases a remake was warranted. Now all we need a second remake of Red and Blue.
At the end of the mission, we finally meet Ghaul, who is terrifying in his all-white armor and his Darth Malak-esque mask. He gives a great speech and welcomes us to a world without light, as he strips the Traveler of its power. He then promptly kicks your de-powered self off the edge of the Tower and the Destiny 2 logo fades in to end the Beta’s mission. I assume the next mission will take place within the city. But the first mission of Destiny 2 impressed and if they can keep that up with the rest of the campaign, it could be great.
Destiny 2 did manage to fix a couple of small issues from the first game, but itās otherwise taken several steps back. Its consumable cosmetics and loot box-style method of awarding gear encourages hoarding and disengagement from the end-game grind. Its failure to offer at least as many features as the original Destiny has unsurprisingly led to rapid onset of player boredom. Worst of all, its neutering of the PvEās moment-to-moment gameplay has resulted in a sequel that just isnāt as much fun to play. Destiny 2 may indeed have a loot problem as so many are loudly pointing out, but thatās small potatoes compared to these major fundamental flaws.
The most mysterious force anyone has ever discovered, the Vex are a machine race that are beyond ancient. They arenāt even from Destinyās current universe. Crota, son of Hive God Oryx, accidentally unleashed the Vex into their universe by cutting a hole between dimensions. This unleashed the beings into their universe as they began to understand a method to move between worlds. They are incredibly intelligent and aggressive beings that have ruins within Venus dating back billions of years. They were first found by humans during the Golden Age, and ever since, have been nothing but a thorn in the side of every race.
It’s been less than a year since Destiny 2ās launch, with highs and lows, but mostly lows. Players may have fallen off Destiny 2 faster than a Sparrow racing its way throughā¦oh wait (I miss Sparrow Racing). It’s this exact feeling, however, that Bungie is battering its player base with. For those who have come from Destiny and stuck around — through gritted teeth — and those who are newcomers to the IP, it’s been like climbing a vertical mountain that’s starting to invert itself on the way up. Slowly, Bungie has course corrected and it’s filling in much of the gaps that should have been filled in to begin with. When an entire weapon selection is useless for much of the first year, something might be wrong, especially because it leads to one of the worst grievances of all — not having fun.
