25 February 2026fnushasta3Travel & Leisure, Destinations

Georgia [Sakartvelo] is a transcontinental country of the Eastern Europe and the South Western Asia.

It has been continuously inhabited since the early Stone Age.

It was the famous Kingdom of Kolchis which was visited by Jason [Ιάσων] the leader of the Argonautic expedition and the capture of the Golden Fleece.

In the course of time several Emprires and Kingdoms occupied the territory.

The Georgians were the first to accept Christianity in the 4th century AD/ CE and managed to establish a Kingdom in the 11th century AD/ CE.

By 1800 AD/ CE the Kingdom of Georgia was incorporated to the Russian Empire and remained under their rule until 1918 AD/ CE when they declaired independence but were under British protection.

In 1921 was occupied by the Red Army and remained under their rule until the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991.

If you have any questions regarding where and ways to make use of Sakartvel, you can contact us at our own web-page.
